I have been building some form of web comic since 2004 or so, this is the most recent incarnation.
I began with a tiny little site on geo-cities, called ‘mammoth online comics’ it was free with add banners and pop-ups all over the place, not ideal, but it was a place to post my art. I wrote the entire site in html and I learned a lot. Slowly, it died as I hit a few snags.
Though it rose again when I began to pay for my own server in the hopes of ironing out the previous snags. Of course when I tried to resurrect my old site I found that ‘Mammoth’ was taken, and really it didn’t suit me anymore anyway. The names of my site have always been meant to be separate from any current title I am working on, with the idea that I can do multiple stories without being stuck with a main title as the domain. ‘Wayland Green’ was not a name nor a title, it was just some abstract words stuck together that I thought was easy to remember and didn’t have the domain name taken already. I do remember one of my online friends messaging that ‘some guy’ ripped off my site and started to re-post my stuff! Wayland Green was that guy, it was pretty funny. ‘WaylandGreen.com’ stood for a few years, though it too died as it became unmanageable.
But I don’t like being dead, doesn’t suit me. I lost the domain for Wayland Green, I believe it’s a site for a golf course now. ‘Rowdy Dead’ will do, I loaded in word press, and I’m hoping it will be more manageable than my older sites.
Even if we die, we won’t stay dead for long.
