Ok, so I altered one of Dakota’s pieces! Way back on aWLoN!68, there were a couple paragraphs that made her into a communist sympathizer. While I don’t mind having a character like that, it does not mesh well with how I intended her to be.
Originally, when she first mentioned Red Faction, she practically spat in disgust and called them fascist that ‘wanted to make everyone do things their way…’ I’m paraphrasing at the moment, but something to that effect.
So, clearly she was not a communist sympathizer when I first wrote for her. I think I kind of lost touch with her after I made such a radical change. Really, she is meant to be like a liberal, trusting that the government has everyone’s best interests at heart. More like the people of Grady, too blinded by ideals to see the truth of Corporatism, rather than being ‘pro-Iron Grip’ government like the Red Faction. So I just removed those paragraphs, they were kind of wedged in there anyway and to top it off, they really interrupted the flow of it all. Good move all the way around in my opinion! Anyway, I doubt anyone would notice if I didn’t point it out, but if I can get her character talking again, people might be like, ‘I thought she was a commie?’ nah. Fixed it.
(this is where I went to go work on Dakota’s piece… and then came back hours later)
She’s still not talking. I ended up reworking the painting I did for her last post. The image really wasn’t very good. Dakota’s supposed to be like if Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Napoleon Dynamite had a baby girl, and she became a flight attendant… So her kind of goofy lips, in her original piece, were something I wanted to keep as her character, but honestly they just get worse and worse every time I tried. I think it has to do with how cartoony the original was. But whatever, I took another crack at it, toned down the lip thing, and cleaned the whole thing up a bit. I think it looks better. I didn’t really mess with Ivan at all… but whatever, I like it again.
Better luck next week!
