So, I haven’t written a Hogwash in a loooooong time. Almost as long as I haven’t finished a Squire’s End page! Har har! I’ve gotten into this weird habit of opening the current comic page, looking at it for a while, and then just doing something else… for example writing this Hogwash. I think last weekend I wound up playing video games (although WoW just had a patch so I think it’s understandable).

I don’t know why I am dragging my feet on Squire’s End, it’s meant to be the feature; I think, I decided I really needed to work out how to get people to the site, before I burn through the story idea. ‘Cuz really once I finish it, I just have to come up with something else to work on. My numbers don’t look so hot anymore.

Well that’s what I think half the time, the other half I’m thinking about starting a whole ‘nother comic, and just swapping between the two as the mood strikes me, because a lot of the time when I don’t work on Squire’s End- I’m dreaming up other ideas. lol… but ultimately posting both could lead to burning out- Which will be worse than just the current procrastination that’s running rampant.

For the most part, I stopped writing these weird little blog posts because a lot of them were spurred on from trying to explain what-the-what’s-it was going down with ‘A Whole Lot of Nothing!’ Recently, whenever I write something I later think might be confusing, I have been convincing myself that ‘people aren’t stupid’. They get it, they got it, it’s not hard- but then these thoughts build up on me and start nagging at me.

For example, at one point I wrote about the ‘mythical archeologists from old fantasy adventure movies’ which Mari watched in her youth. Now, when I wrote it, I thought it was clever, because obviously there wouldn’t be much need for archeologists during the ark age. I mean come on, everyone is clustered together and, pretty much, all cultures have been wiped out into the one current reality… on top of which the whole ‘History Wipe’ thing, which was by design, so people studying ancient earth history would obviously work against the ark ships diabolical plans… whew that was a mouthfull. So… clever? or too complicated to be wrapped up into such a tiny sentence? maybe, maybe not. I tell myself people aren’t stupid, but sometimes I just feel like I should have a chance to defend myself. I mean I’m pretty much yelling into a void here, sometimes there is not so much as an echo. “Yes, archeologists aren’t myths. yes, I know it.” Says I, says I!

Now, the more recent thing that’s been scratching at me was my big reveal that the Vanguard was not fascist at all. In fact it turned out the original Royals, which squashed the Vanguards’ hopes for a federal government, were the ones shaping up into the fascists. Ultimately, Vanguard was called fascist in the beginning because of the whole ‘the victors write the history books’ idea (and also because it was Mari’s piece and she liked RA). So, it was meant to be a twist, though some feedback seems to read, that I was calling representative democracies- fascist governments… which is hilarious. Sigh. “Yes, I know Representative Democracies are the opposite of fascist governments.” Says I, Says I!

And puts me back to droning on: ‘no I am not a fascist, no I am not a socialist, no I am not a communist…’ all these declarations is what led me to stop writing these kind of posts! Yet here I am because, probably, I didn’t do the work on my comics page that I was supposed to do, so I am writing this to feel like I furthered my web site today, though officially because these things build up on me and I just need to say shit out loud or I’ll just keep spinning them around in my brain! <(That was not the sentence I started writing)

I said this in the past, but I’ll say it again because I think it was in a post I took down: ‘aWLoN!’ is a series of character pieces. The main character of the individual posts, paint how the world is depicted. The socialists are still in the world, the communists are still in the world, the capitalists are still out there. These ideas don’t go away just because I’m writing from the view point of someone who doesn’t like their ideas. No one is being counted out, or disproved. That’s not my thing, man. The whole thing is about pluralism. It’s about opposing ideas existing in the same space.

Really, it’s not meant to be ‘good guys’ vs. ‘bad guys’. Just a bunch of bad guys!

Admittedly it wasn’t this way at the very start- If you consider, I started out with a smuggler as the protagonist, this meant, for him to be the ‘good guy’, the ‘bad guy’ had to be the people trying to stop him, the people making the laws that created his job, as in- the government.

So, it led to me deciding hmmm, what kind of horrible government should it be? there are ever so many. I decided, let’s just do’em all! Okay! So, I made a bunch of monster governments… aaaaaand it turns out, I have more fun making the monsters fight than having my smuggler dodge them! Which is why Colin is still trudging through the desert and his whole story is sitting on a back burner! I remember at one point trying to get the whole solar system into a WWII era; I think I am still aiming for it.

The UM was made later to skirt the idea, I’m not saying they’re not bad guys too, I’m saying they weren’t on the list of monster governments… considering they’re not actually a thing yet, though… we’ll see how that shapes up.

Honestly, Dakota’s story got pushed back because I was thinking about having her story span a decade or so, and then coming back into a completely different Onion. So, I wanted to try and set up a bunch of stuff before the time jump, but now- I think, I don’t want to do that. Hahaha! Time will tell.

There was more stuff I wanted to say… I think this whole thing might come off ‘not as I intended’, so I’ll just cut it short. Feel free to post your opinion in the comments below. Seriously, a comment will get me working on stuff… I don’t know what stuff per se, but it’ll be Great, I’ll tell you that. So great! Great and yuge!

(Can you believe what they’ve given us to vote for this time? Either a Corporate-Democrat or a Corporate-Democrat running on a republican ticket because no Corporate-Republican wanted to be the first man to lose to a woman in a presidential election! Are they serious? The corporates have just gotten so cocky, that they care more about writing history books, than keeping the free world free. I can’t vote for either of those people. I’m embarrassed to stay home; I’m embarrassed to go vote. What do we do, man? What do we do?)
